There are plenty of places in Maine where the wind blows strong and steady, but only a few where the fortunate combination of geographical and man-made factors come together to create a natural fit for a wind project. Stetson is one of those places. And wind power, unlike other forms of energy production (coal, oil) doesn’t pollute the air or water. This means that Stetson Wind will help provide clean power for Maine and New England, while keeping the land open and maintaining its rural character. |

Here are just a few reasons Why Stetson Works:
Stetson’s long, low ridgeline ranging from 600 to 1,200 feet presents many good locations for turbines to capture the wind. The winds are consistently strong at Stetson, while the ridge, traditionally used for logging, has already been partially cleared.
Four years of wind data collected on site.
Currently there are no homes closer than 2,500 feet to the project site.
Access from Stetson Wind to Maine and the rest of New England’s electricity market.
Site has historically been used for logging.
Wind turbines will be located adjacent to existing roads.
The existing substation (Keene Road substation) requires virtually no new construction.
