Permitting for Stetson Wind

The path to responsible development

At First Wind, we understand it takes more than just a steady breeze for a wind farm to be successful, which is why we take a rigorous scientific approach to exploring the role of a wind farm in each community. This multi-step process includes meteorological wind measurement, sound modeling, environmental studies, tower placement analysis, and more. Our goal at the Stetson Wind project is to provide permitting authorities with the in-depth information required to help ensure compliance with environmental standards and maximize the benefits to the local community.

Environmental studies ongoing or completed at Stetson:

  • Visual Assessment (with photo simulations)
  • Wildlife Habitat Assessment
  • Bird and Bat Assessment
  • Wetland/Stream Assessment
  • Sound Assessment
  • Historical & Archaeological Assessment
  • Unusual Natural Area Assessment
  • Phosphorous Impact Assessment
  • Medium Intensity Soils Survey
  • Microwave Beam Path Study

The project encompasses an area roughly between Rt. 169 and Tar Ridge Road.
